Fortnite‘s annual spooky event Fortnitemares is now out in the wild, so naturally that means that Epic Games are going to load the game up with even more collaboration skins from across different kinds of media. In the past, we’ve seen franchises like Alien, Resident Evil and Ghostbusters team up with Fortnite, but now is the turn of Remedy’s Alan Wake.

Quite how the beleaguered author escaped the Dark Place and wrote himself onto the Battle Bus is a mystery, but either way, Alan Wake will be available soon in the Fortnite Item Shop for players to purchase. Naturally, Wake is making an appearance in Fortnite ahead of the launch of Alan Wake 2 on October 27th, and with both games published by Epic, it’s the perfect cross-promotion opportunity.

If you want to play as Mr. Alan Wake yourself in Fortnite, here’s what you need to know, including the price and potential release date.

Fortnite Alan Wake Skin

As mentioned earlier, this collaboration between Fortnite and Alan Wake was able to come about as both Fortnite and the upcoming Alan Wake 2 are published by Epic Games. It’s probably one of the more logical partnerships Fortnite has had.

Like most Fortnite skins and collaborations, the Alan Wake 2 skin was leaked ahead of time via dataminers, with iFireMonkey posting a picture of the Alan Wake bundle on social media.

The skin itself is based on Wake’s appearance in Alan Wake 2, with the author ditching his blazer and hoodie combo from the first game in favour of a rather fetching looking suit. The bundle also features several other cosmetics, including a weapon wrap that sports the inverted Black Pyramids that were a core part of Control, which exists within the Alan Wake universe. Maybe we’ll also see a Jesse Faden skin down the line?

Fortnite Alan Wake Skin Price

A price for the Alan Wake skin hasn’t been confirmed yet, but if we’re to assume it’s similar to other skins in the store, the Alan Wake skin in Fortnite will cost around 1,500 V-Bucks, which is roughly the price of other collabs in the game. If you want all the Alan Wake cosmetics available to you though, the bundle will likely cost around 2,400 V-Bucks.

However, players can also get the Alan Wake skin for “free”. To do so, purchase Alan Wake 2 on the Epic Games Store (the game is published by Epic, so it’s the only place to play it on PC) before October 27th, 2024, which is a year after the game releases, and you will receive the skin and Messenger Back Bling.

Fortnite Alan Wake Skin Release Date

UPDATE: According to Game Informer, Alan Wake will be releasing into the Fortnite Item Shop on October 26 at 8 pm ET, a day before the game’s official launch.

It also seems like we will be getting some kind of Alan Wake Creative experience to go along with his skin that hints at when the Alan Wake skin will release.

An email sent too early reveals that there will be a map called Alan Wake: Flashback, which will recreate the original game via Creative from October 17th, meaning we should also see Wake in the Item Shop around that time. The map code is 3426-5561-3374 for anyone who’s curious ahead of time.

ORIGINAL STORY: No release date has been confirmed for the Alan Wake skin, but with the Fortnitemares event currently underway, it’s safe to assume that we’ll see Alan Wake making his appearance on the Fortnite store before Halloween.

We will update this when we know everything about Alan Wake’s release in the Item Shop.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
