It’s quite amazing to think that Fortnite is four years old, as it’s hard to imagine the gaming landscape now without its influence. While that’s a much headier topic for another day, we do have some Fortnite 4th birthday challenges and some free rewards for completing them to tuck into like a nice slice of birthday cake.
Every year, Epic like to put together some challenges for players to complete and offer some rewards, usually in the form of a cake or candles, to let players celebrate. On top of that, the Battle Bus also becomes the Birthday Bus with an updated design and jingle.
Here’s everything you should know about Fortnite’s 4th birthday, including what challenges you can do and what you get for completing them.
Fortnite 4th Birthday Challenges
These are the challenges that you can complete from the Sorana NPC for Fortnite’s 4th birthday:
– Throw Birthday Presents (4)
– Consume Birthday Cakes in different matches (4)
– Dance in front of Cakes (4)
– Collect resources from balloon decorations (50)
This is the same format as always for Fortnite’s birthday celebrations, which makes it super easy for everyone to get in on the fun. If you need proof, look at our guide for the game’s first birthday back in 2018.
If you’re looking for cake and presents, all of the major POIs will have at least one of each that are very easy to find. Collecting resources means to just harvest, so get that pickaxe at the ready.

Here’s everything you earn from completing each challenge, which are actually called quests these days (you can tell I’ve been playing this game for those four years):
– Hooplah Hammer Pickaxe (complete 1 Birthday Quest)
– 4 Me??? Back Bling (complete 2 Birthday Quests)
– 4? Score! Emoticon (complete 3 Birthday Quests)

As soon as you complete these quests, the Birthday cosmetics should then be added to your locker.
Bear in mind that these challenges are only available temporarily and they do not return in any sense. If you don’t complete the challenges and unlock the rewards before the end of the event, you won’t be able to get them again, so you won’t be able to unlock the Hooplah Hammer Pickaxe at any other point.
Fortnite’s 4th Birthday Quests and rewards are available from 2PM BST/8AM CST on September 24th, 2021.
