Final Fantasy XIV Online Patch Expands The Game’s Free Trial

Free is always nice.

Final Fantasy XIV

Square Enix have announced that Patch 5.3 has launched today for Final Fantasy XIV Online, bringing with it a host of new updates, content and improvements, but the main addition is how much the game’s free trial has been expanded. If you’re unsure about giving Final Fantasy XIV Online your money, you’ll still have a lot of game to play with.

The patch expands the free trial in a variety of key ways. The level cap has been pushed up to 60 with unlimited playtime, allowing for even more progression than before. The trial also allows players to access the base game and Heavensward content, along with the Au Ra playable race and 3 extra job roles (Dark Knight, Astrologian, and Machinist). Naturally, the Shadowbringers content is still locked off, but there’s hundreds of hours for you to get through in the meantime.

As for the rest of the patch, it adds the final act of the Shadowbringers quest line, while also streamlining the main questline of A Realm Reborn. There’s also a new YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse Alliance Raid, the latest in Final Fantasy XIV’s collaboration with Nier: Automata, along with a massive amount of new quests to boot.

Final Fantasy XIV Online is available now on PC and PS4. Will you be playing the latest patch? Let us know in the comments below.
