Dragon Quest’s Hero Joining Smash Ultimate Roster Today

If you're in America at least.

The Hero

During today’s 22 minute deep dive, Nintendo have revealed that Dragon Quest’s Hero will be launching today as the second Fighters Pass DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, bringing with him 4 different iterations of the Hero from across the series, along with some separate Mii Fighter costumes based on Dragon Quest. Check out the video below.

Interestingly, The Hero will only be launching today in North America. He’ll be released in Europe tomorrow, which is a bit strange but there you go, but we’re sure you’ll be able to wait a day for a new character, stage and a host of music.

Alongside the release of Hero is Version 4.0.0, a new update which adds a bunch of new features that’ll make Smash Bros. Ultimate an even better game, somehow. There’s now a time limit to the Final Smash meter, meaning you can’t simply hold on to your Final Smash for an entire stock. There’s also a very easy difficulty for World of Light, along with online spectator modes and a new online Tournament feature, with rotating rule-sets and occasional special events.

The Hero Challenger Pack can be purchased separately for $5.99/£5.39, or you can purchase the Fighters Pass to unlock The Hero, Joker from Persona 5, Banjo-Kazooie who will launch later this year, and two more unannounced characters.
