Hideo Kojima’s weird post-apocalyptic delivery driver simulator Death Stranding has had a pretty successful physical launch, debuting at number 2 on the UK boxed chart behind the juggernaut that is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This launch makes Death Stranding the second biggest launch for a PlayStation “exclusive” in 2019, behind Days Gone.

It’s a remarkable achievement for a new IP, especially one as unique as Death Stranding as it’s clear that the game will not be to everyone’s taste. Still, the fact the game exists and players are clearly supporting it is great. The launch figures for the first week of sale put Death Stranding on the same level as other Sony published titles like Bloodborne and The Order 1886.

Death Stranding’s launch has pushed fellow spooky game Luigi’s Mansion 3 down to fourth, while Need For Speed: Heat debuts on the list at fifth. You can check out the full top ten list below, and let us know if you’ve been playing Death Standing in the comments.
