Crash Bandicoot’s New Mobile Game Features Base Building, For Some Reason

Sure, okay. This is a thing, I guess.

Crash Bandicoot

King Games and Activision have announced that Crash Bandicoot will be appearing in a mobile game. It’s called Crash Bandicoot: On The Run, and it’s an endless runner with, *checks notes*, “base building and weapon crafting”, two classic staples of the Crash Bandicoot franchise. Check out the trailer for yourself below.

While the trailer doesn’t show much in the way of actual gameplay, the pre-rendered animations do a good job of showcasing what the game will look like, as you run, jump and attack your way through levels filled with obstacles. It looks like any other endless runner that’ll immediately drain your phone’s battery, only with a Crash Bandicoot coat of paint.

On The Run will be coming to mobiles soon, and you can pre-register for the game now for “an exclusive reward”. If nothing else, Crash Bandicoot: On The Run will plug the gap in time between now and Crash 4, but I’m just a little confused about how a Crash Bandicoot game will implement weapon crafting and base building. They seem like two things that feel opposite to Crash. Either way, you can find out for yourself when the game launches.
