Blackpool Combat Club had a fantastic weekend across the wrestling world with not only Bryan Danielson confirming his in-ring return for this Wednesday but also a massive championship win over in Ring of Honor. Taking place on the stacked Death before Dishonor card, Claudio Castagnoli faced Johnathan Gresham for the Ring of Honor World Championship, a match which many believed the former Cesaro would go on to win as part of his return to the indie scene.

And that’s exactly what he did. Castagnoli captured his first-ever World Championship in his triumphant return to ROH. He and Gresham put together a technical masterclass and is certainly a match I’d recommend you go and check out if you haven’t already. Claudio was celebrated like a true hero by the end of the match, a true career highlight for the 22-year tenured veteran.

BCC are now draped in gold, not only from Claudio’s ROH win but also Wheeler Yuta’s Pure Championship as well as Jon Moxley’s interim AEW Championship. This is definitely a stable that won’t be fading into obscurity anytime soon.

Claudio Castagnoli will now bring the ROH Championship to episodes of AEW television, likely defending it on a regular basis to further the prestige of a championship often ignored.

Congrats to Claudio.
