You might remember the classic season 7 episode of The Simpsons, Marge Be Not Proud, where Bart really wants a copy of Bonestorm but ends up with Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge. While it might have disappointed Bart, it can now bring joy to your life, as a real version of the game developed by Aaron Demeter is now available on Itch.io. For context, here’s the game as it appears in The Simpsons.
Aaron’s version is a completely faithful recreation of the game as it appears in the TV show, allowing to take a three wood to the green and Happy Gilmore that ball right into the parking lot. The Itch.io page allows you to play in browser, but you can also download the game if you wish (complete with scoring pencil) and leave Demeter a tip for his efforts.
The recreation of Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge is enjoyable, and I hope it’s not the last we see of joke video games from The Simpsons becoming a reality. We could see Touch of Death, Larry The Looter, My Dinner With Andre: The Arcade Game and even the hallowed Bonestorm appear on the internet over the next few months.
