Japanese developer/publisher Capcom has reported to its shareholders in a recent meeting that it expects to generate up to 20% more operating income by the end of this fiscal year. This is according to a report from VGC, with Capcom stating that the projected success is due to the digital sales of Resident Evil 3 Remake and strong pre-order interest for Monster Hunter: Rise on the Nintendo Switch.

Resident Evil 3 Did Well?

Yes it did, actually, and I’ll go one step further by saying it’s a fantastic game, but that’s a debate for another time. The publisher announced that it was revising its forecast for the year ending March 31st, 2021. Net sales are expected to be 8.2% higher at $889m, while net income is expected to be up by 16.7% at $203m. This projected increase is due to Capcom’s success in the digital sales market, something that’s probably going to increase considering the Resident Evil franchise is on sale on the Xbox Store.

Capcom themselves had this to say regarding the revised fiscal expectations: “We have seen a solid performance by new title Resident Evil 3, along with continued growth in high-margin catalog titles with long sales cycles, such as Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, which was released in the previous fiscal year. Additionally, orders for Monster Hunter Rise, a major new title scheduled for release in March of this year, are off to a promising start. Altogether, this has led us to expect this business to outperform our plan.”

Seems Like All Is Well In Capcom?

Well, it seems like they’re coping with their recent data breach at least. Capcom are currently gearing up for tonight’s Resident Evil Showcase, which takes place at 10pm GMT, where they’re reveal more details about the upcoming Resident Evil Village, along with more news about the franchise as a whole.
