Biomutant: How To Trigger The Endgame

We're in the endgame now.

Biomutant
Biomutant

Biomutant is an ambitious open-world RPG that sees players controlling a violent bundle of fluff exploring a post-apocalyptic world where monsters are threatening the last bastions of existence and the remaining clans are too busy bickering between themselves to do anything about it.

As the lone wanderer in a hostile world, you have the power to decide the fate of the world, whether you choose to save it or let it rot. In order to trigger the endgame, there are a few important decisions you’ll need to make along the way. Here’s everything you need to know about how to finish Biomutant.

In order to trigger Biomutant’s endgame, there are three main decisions that you’ll need to make, two of which are related to each other and will determine the ending you receive, while the third will add some variation to some of the cutscenes. Without getting too much into spoilers, here’s everything on your checklist you’ll need to complete before you can see the credits roll:

  1. Ally yourself with one of the six tribes and resolve the tribe war, either by uniting or subjugating the clans. Light Aura clans seek to unite the clans, while Dark Aura clans would rather rule over everything with an iron fist.
  2. Either kill or spare the World Eaters. The World Eaters are 4 powerful monsters that dwell at the roots of The Tree of Life, and you can choose whether you want to kill them and protect the Tree of Life, or let them destroy the tree and trigger a second apocalypse. Light Aura tribes want to protect the tree, while the Dark Aura tribes think the only way to survive is to kill the past.
  3. Decide who gets to travel to a new world in The Ark. Throughout Biomutant, you’re aided by a mentor-like figure called Out-Of-Date, who finds an Ark designed to travel to a far-off world with the view of restarting civilization. The Ark has enough space to fit you, Out-Of-Date, your tribe’s Sifu and four other people, meaning you’ll have to find 4 others who are willing to go to outer space with you. Depending on your Aura, some people will refuse your invitation too.

As you’re making your way through the main game, you’ll also encounter Lupa-Lupin, a villainous figure who is responsible for some awful things that’s happened to your main character. Before the end, you’ll fight Lupa twice, once while roaming the landscape while round 2 occurs at his camp, behind The Tree of Life. After you’ve beaten him the second time, you’re free to resolve the rest of the main story before the endgame, which is you versus Lupa one last time.

Again, depending on the choices you make, you’ll receive different endings, with your main choice regarding how you resolve the World Eater situation. There’s other choices to make along the way that lead to smaller permutations on the ending, such as The Ark’s passengers and more, but for the most part, there’s a light playthrough and a dark playthrough. That’s all you need to know.
