Is Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Coming to Game Pass?

In 2009, Ubisoft Montreal transported players to the magical world of Pandora in a poorly received game adaptation of Avatar. While the prequel title didn’t quite enamor fans, Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment is attempting a go at the vibrant series with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which may be on its way to Game Pass too.

Taking cues from recent Star Wars games, Massive Entertainment isn’t strictly following any of the Avatar movies, instead offering up an entirely new story featuring new characters in a new location.

It all sounds very promising, but the real question is whether Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have the opportunity to explore Pandora as part of their monthly subscription. The stars could align, considering the big beautiful world conceptualized by James Cameron is making its way to Xbox Series X & S. We have the full details about Massive’s exciting standalone Avatar title, and whether or not it’s making it way to Gam Pass.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora on Game Pass

While Massive Entertainment’s Tom Clancy’s The Division was once part of the Game Pass library, it’s not looking like Frontiers of Pandora will go down the same path. Game Pass isn’t the only subscription-based platform out there, though, and being a Ubisoft title, the new Avatar game will be available on Ubisoft+.

Like Game Pass, Ubisoft+ subscribers pay a monthly fee to access a library full of Ubisoft games. Along with Avatar, the service will include new titles like Assassin’s Creed: Mirage and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown when they launch. Though Avatar may not be on Game Pass, Xbox users can access their Ubisoft+ library via their console.

About Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Unlike the first Avatar game, Frontiers of Pandora tightens up the experience a bit by having players only control a Na’vi. You’re not just any Na’vi, though, as you were raised and trained by the RDA, a militaristic corporation, to do its bidding. Free from the RDA’s grip after 15 years in captivity, you return to the Na’vi homeland in hopes of reintegrating with the natural world.

The first-person shooter blends the wonder of Avatar with elements of an action-driven experience, complete with a full arsenal of weapons and many ways to traverse Pandora. Your human training will come in handy as you can swap between traditional Na’vi weapons or pick up high-powered shotguns, assault rifles, and pistols to battle through the many threats of Pandora.

Frontiers of Pandora is all about exploration, discovery, and finding yourself. Throughout the adventure, your Na’vi can be customized with new gear, skills, and weapons that allow you to mold your playstyle. You’ll be able to jump into your Na’vi avatar and familiarize yourself with Pandora when Frontiers of Pandora launches on December 7, 2023, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X & S.
