Apex Legends: Season 13’s Launch Trailer Introduces Newcastle As The Newest Legend

It’s official: Bangalore is leaving the Apex Games.

Or she was, anyway. After tweeting various hints indicating Bangalore was going to leave the Games, Respawn Entertainment uploaded the launch trailer for Apex Legends: Season 13 – Saviors, and it’s now clear she’s here to stay.

The “Saviors” launch trailer is an action-packed adventure with more moments of excitement and levity than the average episode of Stories from the Outlands, and far more lore and Legend interaction than the average season launch trailer.

Despite leaks indicating Conduit would be Season 13’s debut Legend, “Saviors” makes it pretty clear that the next Legend will be Newcastle, who was described as “Mobile Defender” in the recent Legend roster leak, and appears to have a pretty solid defensive abilities set.

So who is this Newcastle guy, anyway? I’ll give you a hint: you’ve already met him. Bangalore’s met him, too – but for some reason, she has evidently lost the ability to remember the sound of her brother’s voice, and his face is obscured by his helmet. Despite Newcastle immediately quoting Bangalore’s line from the Season 11 trailer (“No good can come from this place.”) and consistently going out of his way to defend her during what was supposed to be her last match before retirement, Bangalore still doesn’t get the message.

It’s not until they face off against a squad of Stalkers – killing one in the exact same way they killed Scryer in “Gridiron” – that Bangalore seems to realize who he is.

Bangalore’s chance to confront Newcastle is quickly interrupted by an absolutely massive crab-thing that climbs out from the depths of the ocean surrounding Storm Point. After a bit of a struggle, the Legends dispatch the enormous crustacean, and Bangalore confirms that Newcastle is indeed her brother Jackson, who appears to have faked his death, likely to escape those hunting him for the murder of Scryer.

The final screen is an advertisement for the next episode of Stories from the Outlands, (titled “Hero”), with the Season 13 tagline: “Let no one fall.”

Will there be more Williams family drama in the near future? Only time will tell. But players might get some answers when Stories from the Outlands: Heroes debuts on April 28th, 2022.

Apex Legends is free to play on PC, PS5, PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox Series X & S. and Xbox One.
