Anthem Now Available As Part Of EA Access

Is free still too high a price?

Anthem

It’s fair to say that Anthem didn’t have the best of launches. It felt like an unfinished mess, and the constant delays and backlash to the post-launch content that followed hasn’t done much to curry favour in the ailing live-service game. Today’s news might be a turning point though, as Anthem is now available as part of the EA Access and Origin Access Basic Vault. Origin Access Premier subscribers will also get access to the Legion of Dawn Edition of the game.

Players who join Anthem right now will find the game in the tail end of the Cataclysm event, but players can still take on the Dominion’s forces to try and earn rare loot and rewards. That said, if you haven’t played the game yet, you’ve still got the main game and side missions to get through, all fully available to EA Access subscribers.

Rumours have been circulating for a while about whether or not EA and Bioware have lost faith in Anthem, and today’s news could be taken in one of two ways. A more pessimistic view is that adding Anthem to The Vault is the final nail in the coffin for the troubled game, but it’s also possible that, if enough players come or return to the game now that it’s available for “free” as part of EA Access, the developers will be given enough incentive to try and turn the game’s fortunes around. We’ll have to see what the future holds for Anthem.
