Ever since Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched earlier this year, players have been requesting a way to transfer their islands and residents over to a new console, and it looks like Nintendo has finally delivered. As part of the November 19th update, you’ll be able to move an entire island or just a single resident to a new console. Check out the official announcement tweet below.

How Will Island Transfer Work?

As mentioned, there are two types of transfer. In order to transfer a whole island, all you need is a new Nintendo Switch to transfer over to. Naturally, all resident and customisation will be transferred too. It’s a useful feature if you’ve got multiple player residents on an island who will also be making the move, or if your island representative hasn’t backed up their island yet.

As for the other method, single resident transfer will allow you to take one island resident and send them off to their own island on another Nintendo Switch. Almost everything they own or have in storage will be moved to the new island, which is a great feature if you’ve been playing local co-op with someone who now has their own Nintendo Switch. They can be transferred over to a new island, or to a previously established island, without any issues. Nintendo have posted more details about save data transferring on their official website.

Any Other Animal Crossing News To Share?

The upcoming update will also introduce new seasonal events, like Turkey Day and Toy Day, along with some new haircuts and reactions. The trailer ends with the promise of another free update landing in late January, so you’ll still have reasons to play Animal Crossing in the New Year.
