Band together.

Banded Dragonfly New Horizons 1

A new month is an exciting time to be an Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan, what with all the new bugs and fish arriving to your island. One of those bugs that you can catch from May onwards is the Banded Dragonfly: a pretty rare dragonfly that you may initially think is just a simple Darner to begin with.

Here’s all the info you need to catch a Banded Dragonfly in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The Banded Dragonfly has black and yellow colouring, which may be pretty hard to spot. It’s far rarer compared to the Darner Dragonfly, but both have almost the exact same animations and way of buzzing around.

You can find the Banded Dragonfly flying around anywhere on your island, though they tend to love going near flowers. Be sure to plant plenty of flowers; remember to try hybrids as this seems to invite more exotic critters generally.

The Banded Dragonfly spawns from 8AM until 5PM every day. Don’t forget you will need at least a flimsy net to catch them with.

Banded Dragonfly Price

Once you’ve caught a Banded Dragonfly in New Horizons, don’t forget to turn it into Blathers at the museum to add it to his collection.

When you catch your second Banded Dragonfly, you can then sell it to Nook’s Cranny for a whopping 4500 Bells. This is many, many times for Bells than the Darner Dragonfly, so make sure you chase after every one you see.

You can also hold onto it until Flick arrives on your island, who will then buy it for 20% more than usual for a price of 5400 Bells. You can also give him three of them and he will give you a Banded Dragonfly model in return.

When Is The Banded Dragonfly Available Until?

Though the Banded Dragonfly is quite the rare bug all things considered, it is available in New Horizons from the start of May until the end of October, so don’t stress if you can’t immediately find it.

We recommend that you store it until Flick comes to your island; the increased price is definitely worth it.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which is out now exclusively for Switch, is a swell colonisation sim. From our review:

“New Horizons is a great continuation of an already fantastic series of games, and paying back Tom Nook’s loan has never been so fun.”
