If you’re wanting to be a bit of a gym and sports freak, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has you covered. Whether it’s the Exercise Bike or a full blown wrestling ring, New Horizons has much to sweat over. If you’re a fan of the sport, you can even pick up a Basketball Hoop.
The Basketball Hoop in New Horizons is available from Nook’s Cranny for a not at all terrible 11,000 Bells, which is a bit cheaper than these large items usually go for. It’s pretty giant, it taking up quite a few squares and being cumbersome when placed on the floor.
As for what it does, it unfortunately serves no purpose at all and is purely an ornamental item. You can’t get a basketball and shoot some hoops, which seems like a missed opportunity from Nintendo.
If you’re role-playing as an NBA star, however, you could always convert your basement or attic into a court and then buy another Basketball Hoop from Resident Services for the same price. We’re not sure if you can get it from a balloon or get gifted it by another islander.
