As revealed during the April 29th State of Play, Innersloth’s slow-burn mega-hit Among Us will be making its belated debut on PS4 and PS5 later this year, and it’ll have cross-play to boot.

Alongside the news, it was also revealed that Ratchet & Clank, who were the main attraction of this State of Play, will be available as skins in the game. You won’t be able to blast Impostors away or nothing like that, they will purely be cosmetic.

It will be interesting to see how Among Us plays on PS4 and PS5, if it’s pretty much the same as its Switch version with quickchat over in-game chat. Considering there’s no Discord or anything like it on PS5 or PS4, here’s hoping in-game chat is a feature — Among Us just isn’t the same game if you can’t screech accusations at your friends.

How Will Among Us PS4 & PS5 Cross-Play Work?

If it’s anything like how it works on PC, mobile, and Switch, Among Us cross-play will actually be on by default. All you’ll need is the same code as you friend and you will be in a lobby with them.

Of course, this could play out slightly differently in reality, but it’s unlikely it would be any more complicated than that, and that’s great. Cross-play can have some hoops to jump through, so just a simple code input works fine for us.

Will I Need PlayStation Plus For Among Us?

There’s been no official word on whether you will need PlayStation Plus to play Among Us on PS5 and PS4, but based on the fact that it’s a paid game and not free-t0-play, yes, you will need Plus to play online.

Among Us is available now for PC, Switch, and mobile. An Xbox version can’t be far away now either, what with the game being available on Game Pass for PC. It’s more a case of “when” rather than “if”.
