Alan Wake is a writer, so it makes sense that he knows his way around words. Fortunately for him, or unfortunately depending on how the stories he writes shake out, The Dark Place has the power to make his words into reality. Because of this, Wake has the ability to use words to make himself stronger, though it’s not just a case of sitting at a typewriter and typing the words “make Wake swole”. Instead, Wake needs to find Words of Power scattered across The Dark Place in order to become stronger. Here’s what you need to know about how to find Words of Power in Alan Wake 2.

How To Find Words Of Power

Words of Power are skills that Alan Wake can upgrade by finding the relevant words out in The Dark Place. The Words that Alan can upgrade come in one of seven categories, which are as follows:

– Words Of Fix
– Words Of Gun
– Words Of War
– Words Of Stuff
– Words Of Aid
– Words Of Action
– Words Of Lamp

In order to find the Words of Power, you need to spot yellow spirals on the walls, floors and ceilings of The Dark Place. These instances can be found by shining your flashlight on these areas, and the game tries to help you in finding these Words of Power by sticking arrows everywhere to tell you where to find the spirals you need.

If you’re still struggling to find the Words of Power you need in different areas of The Dark Place, another solution is to find Sheriff Tim Breaker in each area of the map (such as The Dark Place, Subway, Hotel). Inside each version of the room that Tim is in, there’s a map you can interact with that’ll tell you where various points of interest are in that specific area. You can then use this to find the Words of Power you’re missing.

Alan Wake 2 is available now on PC via the Epic Games Store, PS5 and Xbox Series X & S.
