Saga Anderson is going to need all the help she can get if she wants to solve the mystery of the murderous Cult of the Tree that’s been terrorising the Bright Falls area, which is why the charms you can find along the way can make all the difference. However, if you’re the type of player who’s intent on just blitzing through the game from A to B, you might never find the charms you’d need to make the game much easier for yourself. With that in mind, this is everything you need to know about how to obtain more charms in Alan Wake 2.

Alan Wake 2 Charms Explained

If you’ve played this year’s remake of Resident Evil 4, charms in that game work much in the same way in Alan Wake 2. Essentially, Saga has a charm bracelet equipped at all times, from which she can attach three different charms. At the start of the game, she already has one charm equipped from her daughter, Logan, which increases her maximum health amount, but it is possible to find more charms while playing the game which can have other benefits. The Coffee Mug charm in particular is useful, granting Saga an instant full health restore if she happens to die while the charm is equipped. Naturally, the charm shatters on use.

How To Find More Charms

If you want to find more charms, you’ll need to solve the puzzles involving the nursery rhymes that can be found across Bright Falls, Cauldron Lake and Watery. You can find these puzzles from Chapter 3, when the water level in Cauldron Lake recedes and new areas are available to explore.

The nursery rhyme puzzles themselves are the results of the Federal Bureau of Control (from fellow Remedy game Control) experimenting with the reality changing properties of the Brights Falls/Cauldron Lake altered world event. By placing dolls that can be found near the puzzles in places corresponding to the poem, you’ll alter the world slightly and receive a charm for doing so.

For the most part, you won’t have to look too far to find the charms related to the puzzles you’re solving, as there’s typically one or two next to the puzzle itself. Once you’ve placed the correct charm(s), the screen will fill with static to let you know the puzzle has been solved. At this point, you’ll need to look around the immediate area to find something that’s changed that’d be related to the puzzle you just solved. There, you’ll find your charm, though be on the lookout as sometimes you’ll have contend with some Taken surrounding the charm.

Alan Wake 2 is available now on PC via the Epic Games Store, PS5 and Xbox Series X & S.
