If you’ve had just about enough of planes and snow, the incoming Fortnite Season 8 may just remedy that for you as its release edges nearer. Judging from what we’ve seen so far from teasers and the cracks across the Fortnite map, Season 8 is going to be bonkers.
You don’t have much longer left to wait, either.
Fortnite Season 7 Start Date & Time
Fortnite Season 8 starts on February 28th at 9AM GMT/1AM PST/4AM EST/3AM CST. Though this has not been officially confirmed by Epic, it has been the time for every previous season update, as well as the fact that a PlayStation event listing backs it up.
This listing also confirms the end date for Season 8 before we move into Season 9: Wednesday, May 8th.
Judging from previous seasons, there will be downtime for upwards of an hour before players can jump in to Fortnite Season 8.
Fortnite Season 8: What To Expect
So, what can we expect from Fortnite Season 8? Tweet teasers have hinted that we will be seeing pirates and their ships in some capacity, which will be the replacement for planes. Snakes of some kind will also be a feature, as well as the possibility of a volcano erupting.
I, for one, cannot wait for the opportunity to fight pirate zombies.
Just prior to Season 8, Wailing Woods has completely died with all foliage dropping off of its trees. The area had been “decaying” for a while up to this point, but it’s still startling to see one of the map’s mainstays effectively kick the bucket. That being said, having both Dusty Divot and Wailing felt like overkill. All of the cracks in the map are originating from this point, so it looks like Wailing may be the spot for the teased volcano.
Epic have also teased something to do with the B4 co-ordinates on the map with “x marks the spot“. There might be something going on there as well, though nobody has yet been able to put it all together.
It will also be interesting to see how or even if Season 8 reverts some of the changes from Season 7. Greasy Grove may finally be defrosted with the volcano abound, but would they really want to get rid of the whole ice biome? We know for certain that planes are on their way out, but Epic usually take this opportunity to make big changes to weapons and items, too. Surely turrets will be vaulted as they are just junk in inventories at this point, but will we see the grappler return in some capacity?
Also be on the lookout for Season 8 leaks just before it begins. It’s become a tradition for someone, whether that’s Xbox or Apple, to drop the ball, so don’t be surprised to see something leak ahead of time.
Fortnite Season 8 Battle Pass
The Fortnite Season 8 Battle Pass is being given away for free to those who complete the Overtime challenges from the tailend of Season 7. It’s widely believed that Epic were worried by the popularity of Apex Legends, which also prompted them to make a tonne of fan requested changes as part of Share The Love.
If you couldn’t be bothered to complete the Overtime challenges, the Battle Pass will set you back 950 V-Bucks as always and it comes with a variety of skins, emotes, and other items. There are usually skins for tier 1 and 2 that are available immediately with one of them typically having unlockable styles; the tier 100 skin will be the same but take a lot longer to unlock unless you’re flush with cash to unlock all tiers in advance.
