Resi purists are going to be thrilled, it turns out that Resident Evil 7 won’t be all about ghosts after all, despite the impression we’ve been given so far.
Speaking in a Capcom blog post, which you can read in full here, director Kōshi Nakanishi put fans’ worries to bed. This will still be (mostly) the Resident Evil that we know and love:
“I think you can look at the trailer or the demo and get that impression, but don’t worry, we haven’t just thrown out Resident Evil as it exists and turned it into a ghost story. It will all make sense in the end.”
This comes off the heels of the reveal that Resi 7 won’t actually be at all likes its demo. They basically just lifted the marketing idea from Konami, but don’t worry, it can’t be plagiarism because Konami barely even exists anymore.
I’m all for Resident Evil 7, though I understand some of the worried looks it’s been given. First-person RE games haven’t exactly been groundbreaking so far, but they’ve been spin-offs. If Capcom put their whole ass into this, we could be looking at something special.
Well, it can’t be worse than Umbrella Corps, right? We can pray. If you have faith, you can pre-order it now.
