WATCH: Hideo Kojima Says a Final Goodbye to Metal Gear Solid

From our short time with the game already, it’s easy to say that Metal Gear Solid V is one of Hideo Kojima’s finest to date and fittingly the last in the series he will be involved with. All of the conflicts with Konami aside, what Kojima has accomplished with the franchise over three decades is sincerely admirable.

With the release of The Phantom Pain on the 1st of September, a final hurrah video has been released to celebrate the auteur’s storied success with Solid Snake et al over the years. It’s a little self-congratulatory if you don’t know Kojima’s work, but for the familiar, it’s a goodbye that packs an emotional punch. The closing minutes are pretty devastating and almost hard to watch. Catch it below if you think you can deal with the feels.
