Wales Interactive, developers and publishers of horror titles like The Bunker and the upcoming Maid of Sker, are teaming up with FMV Future to release Gamer Girl, an FMV horror title that follows the fictional streamer Abicake99 as she deals with an anonymous predator lurking in her chat. Check out the debut trailer below.

In Gamer Girl, you’ll play as a mod in Abi’s chat, who has recently returned to streaming after the disappearance of her friend Becky. As a mod, you’ll be in charge of moderating the chat room, rewarding and banning chat members as you see fit, as well as guiding the course of Abi’s streams. The storyline branches in various ways, as you can try to stir drama to increase Abi’s viewership, or moderate strictly to play things safe. You’ll also have to keep Abi happy, otherwise you’ll be booted from her moderation team and that’s game over.
Gamer Girl star Alexandra Burton in the main role as Abi, and features David Wayman, Rebecca Calienda, and Sofia Maffei in supporting roles. It also includes cameos from real-life streamers like CyborgAngel, along with a cameo from Milky Tea’s kart racer Coffin Dodgers. Interestingly, the reveal blog states that Gamer Girl is the first live-action game to be completely improvised by the cast, as the actors would react to pre-scripted stream text as well as live chat created by the scriptwriter. Hopefully, this helps create a more natural looking stream, selling the game’s authenticity.
Gamer Girl will be launching this September on PC, PS4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch, though its announcement comes at a time when streamers have been sharing their stories of dealing with predatory behaviour. Hopefully, the developers approach this narrative with plenty of care and attention. Will you be tuning in to Abi’s stream? Let us know in the comments.
