Microsoft have decided to put some power in the player’s hands when it comes to supporting the fight against COVID-19, as they’ve introduced a new initiative that’ll let players donate to various causes fighting the current pandemic using their Microsoft Reward points. Check out the announcement tweet below.
Two more ways to show support while you game.
Xbox players in the U.S. can now donate their Microsoft Rewards points to @unfoundation and @GlobalGiving in addition to @CDCFound. We match every dollar.

This new initiative from Microsoft will allow players in the United States to use their Microsoft Reward points to donate to charities like the United Nations Foundation and Global Giving, on top of the CDC Foundation which you could already donate to. Interestingly, Microsoft are even giving players 2000 points in a special quest, before asking players to donate 1000, which equals $1. Microsoft will also match every single donation, dollar for dollar.
While this is a brilliant initiative that should encourage players to donate money to some worthy causes, it’d be nice if Microsoft extended this offer to players in the UK and the rest of the world as well. Sure, we can donate to other charities through Microsoft Rewards, but none that are currently engaged in the COVID-19 fight. Just a thought.
