Full Frontal with Samantha Bee
Long time Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee has been rewarded with her own show over on TBS. Bee joins a long list of Daily Show alumni to get their own gig, and she’ll probably be hoping her show lands with the same impact as John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight. She’s certainly a funny enough performer to pull it off, so let’s hope she finds an audience.
Vinyl
Similar to the film Almost Famous, Vinyl sets itself the lofty challenge of trying to capture the unique insanity of the 70s rock scene in a scripted TV series. Names attached to the project, such as Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese, encourage optimism though. It looks like Vinyl will follow a struggling record label and the maverick record executive trying to give it new life.

Everyone’s favourite James Franco stars in this Stephen King adaptation about a man who hops back in time in order to prevent the assassination of President Kennedy. There’s more to it than that of course, and the specific rules of time travel at play in King’s original work are fairly refreshing. The big question is which James Franco turns in a performance here.
Of Kings and Prophets

It’s safe to say the age of the Biblical epic reached its height with Charlton Heston’s beard in The Ten Commandments, but ABC are giving it another go in Of Kings and Prophets. The show will follow the Kings of Israel through the Book of Samuel, with King Saul played by Ray Winstone, of all people. Be warned though, this is the part of the Bible that gets pretty brutal.
