Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – How To Fill Out Your Map

Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the biggest, most expansive maps across all of gaming, especially now that it has extra places to visit high above and down below. This can mean that it’s a bit overwhelming to navigate, even for those who completed BOTW, especially as the map is all grey and it’s not entirely clear where everything is.

To fill in your map in TOTK and get a good idea of where you actually are, you need to ascend Skyview Towers, such as the one seen below.

You will first encounter as part of the main story in TOTK after you are reunited with Purah at Lookout Landing. There, she will open up the Skyview Tower for you and you will then be able to see the nearby surrounding of Central Hyrule on your map.

There is a Skyview Tower per each territory on the Hyrule map, and the easiest way of figuring all of their locations is by clicking R3 to use your scope and then tagging them — look for the giant beacons in the keys. They’re not all straightforward, however, as you may need to clear some obstructions or complete some side activity before you’re able to actually enter them and ascend.

Once you are inside a Skyview Tower, simply interact with the pedestal and Link will be sent high into the sky, mapping everything around him as he goes. While it’s still effectively a spin on Ubisoft’s much maligned radio tower design that was seen in open worlds for years, Skyview Towers vary things up and are generally fun to complete.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Switch.
