It’s been no secret that, as far as the Console Warz™ go, the Xbox One didn’t fare well against the PS4. Still, Microsoft have quietly been building momentum with smart studio acquisitions for Xbox Game Studios and the successful Xbox Game Pass program, and it appears to be paying off.

Microsoft have recently published the user numbers for 2020 so far, and while it’s important to note that these numbers might be offset by the ongoing “event”, they’re still rather impressive for the big green brand. The Verge’s editor Tom Warren captured the important details in the tweet below.

Xbox Live is nearing 90 million monthly active users, which is an astonishing amount of players per month. On top of that, hundreds of thousands of those active users are participating in the Project xCloud preview program, shaping the future of cloud gaming, while more than 10 million Xbox Live players are subscribed to Xbox Game Pass. These are staggeringly huge numbers, and are good indicators as to the future of Xbox, especially with next-gen looming on the horizon.
