It has been heavily rumoured that WWE were planning on going full SmackDown vs. Raw for this year’s annual Survivor Series event. The speculated main-event supporting the traditional WarGames matches, WWE Undisputed Champion Roman Reigns facing former Shield brethren, Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins.

As exciting as that pencilled match sounds, unfortunately wrestling fans are going to have to wait just a little bit longer to see the two frenemies battle once again as plans have since changed.

When discussing the champion vs. champion affair, Meltzer and Alvarez of WON suggested that talks regarding this match have finished. Dave confirmed the following during the conversation:

“They’re not going to do that. I can tell you for sure. That’s not on this year’s Survivor Series.”

Whether this means that Roman and his Bloodline compatriots are planned to be involved in their second WarGames match at this year’s Survivor Series, there’s currently no word. It may be that Reigns will take a bit of a break during the brand warfare that’s steadily being built up between Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis.

Roman Reigns is set to battle LA Knight at Crown Jewel next weekend for the Universal Championship. Could it be that this is the finale of his long-running title saga or just a pause for the sake of something a bit different.

Either way, it’s a likely event that we’ll one day see Reigns vs Rollins in a headlining match in the near future.
