As an action RPG, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty offers an experience that’s far more forgiving than most, but one that still poses a challenge. If you’re thinking of trying to change the difficulty to suit your needs, you’re in luck with Wo Long. Well, sort of.
Players cannot change the difficulty before or during their first playthrough, much like most action RPGs. However, once they complete the game for the first time, players are able to replay stages on Rising Dragon difficulty by pressing triangle/Y on the stage select screen.
Rising Dragon raises the level of challenge by making enemies tougher, but is also gives you better loot and is the only place that you can get 5-star gear. To unlock more stages on this difficulty, just keep beating stages. Rising Dragon is perfect for teaming up with a friend in co-op during the endgame, so grab your friend and prepare for some pain.
However, it’s worth noting that it doesn’t seem possible to lower the difficulty from the default setting. If you’re struggling, it’s very easy to grind out and improve your overall level, Morale and Fortitude in Wo Long. Just keep returning to the same rest spot to respawn enemies and keep fighting them until you’re in a better spot to take on a tough boss. Bear in mind that your Morale and Fortitude resets at the start of each stage.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S.
