With the recent release of Fallout 4, there’s another open-world epic adventurer which has had to step out of the limelight a little, The Witcher 3. Many people believe the war taking place for the most coveted prizes during this awards season will come down to a three-way battle between The Phantom Pain, Fallout 4, and The Witcher 3.
Well, add one to the winbook for the latter as CD Projekt Red’s closer in the epic series has laid waste to the competition at this year’s Global Game Awards.
Taking home five awards in total, including the coveted Game of the Year accolade, the winners were decided by a public vote, showing that although The Witcher 3 came out in May and its closest competition is much more recent, it’s still remembered fondly by gamers. It’s hard not to love it, especially thanks to the unheard of support from CD Projekt Red, who gave free DLC to all players and paid DLC that was actually worth the money. Unsurprisingly, the Polish team took home an award for Best Developer.
Elsewhere, Rocket League, quite deservedly, won Best Indie and Star Wars Battlefront, despite only being out for a short time, scooped awards for visuals and Best Shooter. For a list of all the winners, visit the Game Debate website here.
