Survival game Valheim has become somewhat of a juggernaut in the genre since launching into Early Access on PC in 2021, and it looks set to become even bigger as it’s making its way to PC Game Pass later this year, along with a launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and Xbox Game Pass in 2023. Naturally, people have begun to question whether this new titan of the survival genre will be coming to PlayStation at all, and we have the answer for you.

To put it simply, Valheim currently isn’t slated to launch on PS4 or PS5. During the extended Xbox & Bethesda Showcase, it was confirmed that Valheim would be coming to Xbox and PC Game Pass, and the trailer shown opened with the words “Console Launch Exclusive”, meaning that Valheim will only be coming to Xbox for the moment.

Of course, this doesn’t rule out a launch on PlayStation for Valheim later on in 2023, as many Xbox launch exclusives have made their way to other platforms eventually. Death’s Door, The Big Con, Cuphead and countless more have made the transition from the big green brand to other consoles and platforms, so it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see Valheim follow a similar path.

As a viking survival game developed by Iron Gate Studio and published by Coffee Stain Publishing, Valheim sees the player taking on the role of a fallen viking trying to prove their worth in order to reach Valhalla. To do so, you’ll have to build shelters, craft weaponry and ultimately slay the five major bosses that reside within the world of Valheim. Fortunately, you don’t have to do it alone, as you can form a raiding party of up to 10 players in order to explore, hunt and build.
