Ubisoft Delays Skull & Bones To 2019 At Least

Skull & Bones

Ubisoft have announced that they’re delaying their upcoming multiplayer pirate game Skull & Bones from its initial autumn release. The game is now penciled in for a launch somewhere in the 2019-20 fiscal year, which is anytime between April 1st 2019 and March 31st 2020.

During an annual earnings report, Ubisoft said the following: “In line with previous practices and in view of the acceleration of our digital transformation, growth in back-catalog sales and excellent momentum of recent releases, Ubisoft has decided to give itself more time to develop Skull & Bones to offer players an even more engaging experience.”

In light of a release like Sea of Thieves, this decision only makes sense. Ubisoft wisely want to ensure they can offer a finished product at launch instead of a proof of concept with the promise of more content down the line. Let’s hope that decision pays off when Skull & Bones launches, whenever the hell that is.
