Khorne factions in Total War: Warhammer 3 love their skulls, blood, and war, and their main resources tie directly into what they do best. While skulls will act as a currency to power up Khorne’s forces and help establish an economy, bloodletting is an army-specific resource that improves army performance and needs constant fueling to maintain its maximum effect. Here’s how you can get more skulls and keep your bloodletting meter plentiful.
The most direct source of skulls is fighting lots of battles – the more the better. For each battle fought and based on the number of enemies slaughtered, players will receive greater amounts of skulls for use in their economy.
Closely related to combat is razing settlements – a common pastime for Khorne’s followers. It isn’t quite as reliable as a source of skulls compared to straight-up combat, it still helps the economy.
While by no means a replacement for reaping skulls from battle, players can also look to buildings, technology, and random events to supplement their skull income. While the former two sources may provide a per-turn trickle of skulls, the latter may give players injections of skulls of varying sizes.
Mono-god Chaos factions also participate in the Great Game, a system that gives follower factions powerful effects depending on the dominance of any given god, called Unholy Manifestations. Though the reward of skulls is potentially quite large, activating the Manifestations won’t be a common sight and should supplement your already steady supply of skulls from glorious combat.
Bloodletting is an odd resource in that it’s more like an energy meter that needs constant refueling to stay at the top and provide the best bonuses. The only way to power up the bloodletting meter is to fight and win battles, so be sure to equip yourself with a range of tactics to be able to win against a variety of opponents and ensure victory. If the army waits too long without spilling blood and reaping skulls the bloodletting meter will go down and benefits will be lost.
