In a blog post about the announcement, Total War developers Creative Assembly state that the reason why they’re making Total War: Shogun II free to keep for a limited time is because “we want to continue to encourage you all to stay home and save lives by extending a gift to everyone to help make this difficult situation a little bit easier”.
Total War: Shogun II will be free to keep from April 27th at 6pm BST to May 1st at 6pm BST. There will also be a Total War sale running on Steam, with select historical titles and DLC available at a discounted price. The blog post states that the games that’ll be discounted will be announced later today, but note that Total War: Three Kingdoms, Rome: Total War and Total War: Warhammer are not included.
