Top 10 Scariest Moments In Cinema (NSFW)

Event Horizon
Demon in corner of room in Insidious

Insidious was an okay film, the ending kind of fell to pieces and I lost interest in how/why things were happening. But there is one scene that makes me prolapse every time. The demon in the corner of the boy’s room, as he slowly moved his hand to points at him, fills me with all of the terror. All of it.

I spend most of my time shitting myself while imagining the various incarnations of demons/creatures living in my room, watching me as I sleep, and now I have an additional one, thanks guys. The image of the demon behind heart throb Patrick Wilson is a commonly recounted shocking image, but I find the demon too comical here. With really bad hair.

Phillip gets turned into a human puppet from A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

Yeah, you read that right. I saw this film so long ago, and it’s almost as if the terror was formed yesterday. Krueger has never been so imaginative and fucking creepy. So fucking weird and creepy. The death that has always stood out for me is when he cuts Phillip’s arms and legs, pulls out his veins, and uses them to control him. Phillip is walked to his death, knowing full well what is happening, but unable to control it. The pain, the horror, the unbelievable amount of creativity he shows, he can really further his career with this active thinking.

Patricia Arquette being eaten by a large Krueger snake/head is another moment where I considered curling up into a ball and never moving again.

Blair Witch basement

This isn’t the greatest film, there were times I blinked for a lot longer than was necessary. I yawned once. I mean, I watched it and I was into it, but the important parts were too few and too short lived. The build up to the end was great, and the delivery was terrifying. They told the story of the witch well enough, that when you go to the basement and see her missing friend facing the wall, before she falls over, without us even seeing anything, it gives our imagination enough space to conjure what terrifies us the most.
