Tim Miller’s Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Releases Next November

SOnic Mania
Sonic Mania

As with most years, last year was a hit and miss one for Sonic fans. While Sonic Mania was just about the most perfect a Sonic game can get, Forces was, erm, not anywhere close. But the rampant success of Mania means that more people would be willing to put down money to watch a Sonic movie.

And now it has a release date. The Sonic the Hedgehog movie will drop on 15th November 2019. Just in case you still think it’s a rivalry, it will hit cinemas quicker than the Mario movie.

A mixture of live-action and CGI (that gives me some very uncomfortable Sonic 2006 vibes), the movie will be executive produced by Deadpool’s Tim Miller. Jeff Fowler is making his directorial bow for the adaptation, which will be written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller.

The plot is uncertain, but I can safely guess that it will feature going fast and defeating Doctor Eggman. Look out for the edgy reboot in 2025 when Shadow the Hedgehog gets his turn in the spotlight.

If you’re yet to try Sonic Mania, you really should. Per our review:

“Sonic is back, praise be, Sonic is back. Old school fans will relish the challenge and the attention to detail while younger gamers may able finally understand why Sonic was such a gaming icon in the 1990’s.”
