The Walking Dead’s Negan Confirmed For Tekken 7

Negan

EVO 2018, the biggest fighting game event of the year, took place over the weekend, bringing with it plenty of hype and some childish Smash tournament behaviour, but some of the biggest news of the weekend involves a strange but welcome crossover. Negan from The Walking Dead is coming to Tekken 7 as part of a second season pass.

The new trailer for Season 2, which you can check out below, looks set to change things up in a big way, bringing with it a new wall bounce mechanic that’ll introduce new combo opportunities. The Season Pass will also bring 6 characters, 3 of which have already been revealed.

Firstly, Anna and Lei are finally joining the Tekken 7 roster, bringing their classic moves with them. Hopefully we’ll see a couple more legacy characters as part of the Season Pass, as that’s been one of the biggest requests for the game.

The trailer ends with a silhouetted shot of Negan from AMC’s The Walking Dead, along with a voice-over from the show. It’s interesting that Negan would appear in a fighting game like Tekken 7. He’s a good fit for the genre, but it arguably would have made more sense for him to appear in a new Mortal Kombat, given his penchant for sweary rants and rampant violence.

No confirmed date has been given for the second Season Pass or characters, aside from a vague coming soon. Regardless, it’s fair to say that this announcement has renewed interest in the game, if only so you can watch Negan cave Geese Howard’s skull in.
