Take-Two have announced that The Outer Worlds has exceeded sales expectations. In a quarter 3 investor’s call, it was announced that The Outer Worlds has shipped over 2 million copies to date, which is an impressive figure for a new IP.
It’s already been indicated that the game has exceeded Take-Two’s expectations in an earnings call back in November, but this the first time we’ve been given actual sales figured for the game.
The Outer Worlds is also slated for release on the Nintendo Switch, so these figures are only set to increase. It was originally scheduled to release on March 6th, but publisher Private Division announced the release was delayed due to the outbreak of coronavirus. The Chinese developer Virtuous is handling the Switch port of the game, but their office has been shutdown to deal with the ongoing emergency. Thankfully, the team appear to be okay.
To clarify, the team at Virtuos is ok, but their office has remained closed during this time. We're working with the team to determine an updated development timeline, and will share more regarding a new launch date shortly.
