The Outer Worlds Has Exceeded Publisher’s Commercial Expectations

Another hit for Obsidian.

The Outer Worlds review
The Outer Worlds

It’s been revealed that the recently released sci-fi RPG The Outer Worlds has been a critical and commercial success, exceeding the expectations of Private Division, the game’s publisher. Private Division is a publishing label for 2K Games, which itself is a part of Take-Two Interactive.

The fact that Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds, which has also received an impressive amount of positive critical reception and currently sits on an 84 on Metacritic as an average across all platforms, exceeded publisher expectations was revealed during a Q2 earnings call for the 2020 financial year. Exact figures weren’t revealed, though Take-Two mentioned that the game “handily exceeded expectations” and it’s expected to be a major contributor the publisher’s revenue this year.

We reviewed The Outer Worlds a few weeks back, and like many others, we pretty much loved it. Have a read of our review right here, and let us know what your thoughts of The Outer Worlds are in the comments below.

The Outer Worlds is an excellent RPG with a ton of memorable moments and a brilliant, satirical tone that holds all the way till the end.
