This Live-Action The Last of Us 2 Trailer Remake Is Pretty Neat

"What are you doing, kiddo?"

The Last of Us 2 live action remake trailer

While we wait and patiently drum our fingers until Naughty Dog and Sony announce something (anything) new about The Last of Us: Part II, leave it to the community to deliver something to tide us over.

This live-action remake of the now classic PSX 2016 reveal of the game is a shot for shot do-over of the original, sans any of the panning shots leading up to the Fireflies logo. It’s pretty dang faithful to the original.

A Croatian production, the live-action trailer is directed by Dinko Šimac and features Manna Wanders playing Ellie. What’s interesting is that the singing of “Through the Valley” is performed by Wanders while the dialogue of Ellie and Joel is still from Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker respectively. Karlo Kučanda portrays the shadow of Joel here.

In terms of The Last of Us: Part II itself, it’s been all silent for the longest time, the last thing revealed being its pretty brutal gameplay reveal in early 2018. Speaking back during December 2017, head honcho Neil Druckmann said the game was about 50-60% complete, so your guess is as good as ours for a release date. Ours is 2020, just before the launch of the PlayStation 5.
