The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan Gets An August Release Date

August 30th, horror fans.

Man of Medan

Bandai Namco and Supermassive Games have announced that the first instalment of their horror anthology series The Dark Pictures, titled Man of Medan, will be launching on PS4, Xbox One and PC on August 30th, with pre-order available right now at participating retailers. To celebrate this news, here’s a new trailer.

In a similar vein to Supermassive’s previous work, Until Dawn, Man of Medan is a choice-driven narrative horror game, where players control multiple characters and your choices determine the outcome of the story.

What’s interesting about today’s news is that those who pre-order the game will get early Day 1 access to the Curator’s Cut, which will be free to all players at a later date. The Curator’s Cut, unlike a Director’s Cut, will allow players to control new characters, make new choices and witness entirely different scenes inaccessible to the main version of the game. Players unlock this mode after finishing the game for the first time.

Pete Samuels, Executive Producer of Man of Medan at Supermassive Games, had this to say about the Curator’s Cut: “The Curator’s Cut is different to the traditional Director’s Cut as it gives the player new ways to directly influence the story and its outcomes. Players will see and change events and relationships from the perspective of characters that weren’t under control in their first playthrough. It adds a whole new layer to how the player understands and interacts with the story in a way that’s never been done before, and we’re excited for people to experience it.”
