Rumour: PlayStation Productions Creating A Twisted Metal TV Show

Insert joke about Sweet Tooth here.

Twisted Metal

Yesterday, news broke that Sony had created PlayStation Productions, an in-house studio dedicated to adapting Sony’s various IP into films and TV, with multiple projects said to be in development already. One of these projects has now been revealed to be a Twisted Metal TV series, which is certainly out of left-field.

The news comes from ResetEra, as user “vivftp” reports that a Twisted Metal TV series was announced during Sony’s Investor Relations meeting. The TV show was confirmed by Tony Vinciquerra, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures, during the Q&A section of the meeting. No other details have been revealed as of yet, such as what platform it’ll launch on, who’s involved and so on. It’s also possible that someone on ResetEra trolling everybody, so get your pinch of salt ready.

Still, the reveal of Twisted Metal as the first confirmed PlayStation Productions project is an interesting one. After the announcement yesterday, people let their imaginations run wild with ideas for adaptations of The Last of Us, God of War, inFamous and Uncharted, but instead, Sony reveal Twisted Metal.

In comparison to the likes of Uncharted and Sony’s recent triple-A blockbusters like Days Gone, Twisted Metal is a lesser known pick that allows PlayStation Productions more freedom to create their own adaptation. It’s a lower-key project, so there’s less risk if the project doesn’t pan out. I think it’s quite a smart choice, but feel free to tell I’m wrong and that they should adapt Jak & Daxter or Syphon Filter in the comments below.
