Tekken: Bloodline, the somewhat true-blue adaptation of the gaming franchise‘s third entry, started streaming on Netflix just recently. The anime was announced earlier in March 2022, and since the first trailer dropped on YouTube, the ever-loyal fan base had been avidly awaiting its release. But now the first season of the anime is out, and the bittersweet ending has left most fans hoping for Season 2.

The Tekken franchise is one that’s widely reputed for its superb gaming installments, but more than that, it’s the franchise’s cult-like following that truly makes it noteworthy. Now with the addition of an original anime series into the fold, the Tekken universe keeps on enriching. Tekken: Bloodline adapted the origins of Jin Kazama, a peculiar teenager with an unknown history, who vows to avenge his mother after an ancient monster murders her.

If you’ve watched the anime, you’d know that it left us on a bit of a cliffhanger moment. As such, a vast majority can’t repel the thought of asking whether Tekken: Bloodline Season 2 is going to happen, and if so, where will it take Jin Kazama’s story next.

When Is Tekken: Bloodline: Season 2 Coming Out?

At the time of writing, Netflix has not renewed Tekken: Bloodline for Season 2, but we speculate that a sequel will eventually pop in due time. Currently, only the six-episode first season is available for streaming.

Larx Entertainment, the eccentric production house behind Yabako Sandrovich’s martial arts anime Kengan Ashura, is responsible for animating Tekken: Bloodline. Surprisingly, earlier this year Netflix greenlit Kengan Ashura: Season 3, and though it isn’t confirmed, we expect Larx Entertainment to reprise its role. Taking that into account, it looks unlikely that Tekken: Bloodline: Season 2 will arrive anytime soon.

What Is Tekken: Bloodline: Season 2 About? (Spoiler Alert)

Most of the anime’s sourced from Tekken 3, while Larx Entertainment also splashes in a bunch of backstories about the characters. Tekken: Bloodline perfectly incorporates the signature moves and audio designs of the characters from the game, forming the defining encounters on which the anime centers itself.

Tekken: Bloodline followed the story of how Jin Kazama finally put his vendetta against Ogre to rest after beating him in combat. And afterwards, we saw how Jin rejected his grandfather Heihachi Mishima. Heihachi, who couldn’t bear that Jin possessed the same devil gene as Kazuya, shot Jin in hopes of ending his life. But surprisingly Jin transformed into his devil state and severely injured Heihachi. Jin then proceeded to fly away into the night.

What happens next hasn’t been revealed, but most likely we’ll be seeing how Jin copes with him being a vessel of the devil gene. Also, it’s likely Tekken: Bloodline: Season 2 will adapt its story from Tekken 4, which is about how Kazuya Mishima is revived 20 years after his death.

Larx Entertainment’s Tekken: Bloodline keeps true to the essence of what it means to bear the name, and presents itself as an amazing homage that all die-hard players of the game will surely relish. Though no official confirmation for Tekken: Bloodline:  Season 2 has yet happened, it’s not unlike Netflix to take their time announcing sequels, so for now a glimmer of hope still shines.
