If you’ve been diving in the depths of Subnautica: Below Zero for more than a minute, you’ve probably encountered fragments, whether that’s for the Mobile Vehicle Bay or something else, but you can’t interact with them. How do you pick fragments up in Below Zero?

The short answer: you don’t.

Fragments in Subnautica: Below Zero are meant to be scanned with a Scanner, one of the most useful tools in the game. The Scanner allows you to research a huge amount of Below Zero’s world with you unlocking the vast majority of blueprints this way.

To craft a Scanner, you need 1x Battery and 1x Titanium. Both of these resources are very easy to acquire, though the Battery does need to be crafted in the Fabricator first.

Once you have the resources, approach the Fabricator and then go to Personal > Tools and craft the Scanner.

Most vehicles/rare items in the game need up to three scans before you get the blueprint, so happy scanning.

Subnautica: Below Zero is available now for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and Switch.
