Starfield: Where To Find Chlorine

It's not in a swimming pool.

Chlorine (or Cl) is a common resource that you’ll need for various crafting recipes that will help you on your journey across many of Starfield’s solar systems. Unlike most other resources, you won’t need a Cutter to acquire it.

Chlorine is a gas-based resource, and all you have to do to get it is find a Chlorine deposit and interact with it. Doing so will extract the resource and place it in your inventory. Don’t stay too long over the deposit because the gas can be hazardous and will give you some negative effects.

There are numerous planets throughout Starfield’s solar systems that have Chlorine for plunder. The Sol System is a big hit for the stuff, as numerous planets in the system have Chlorine on their surfaces.

The easiest way to spot them is to pull out your hand scanner (which will highlight all resources in front of you) and move the cursor over anything highlighted with gas leaking out above the material. Chances are it is Chlorine unless another gas material is present on the planet.

A few easy-to-get-to planets and moons early on are:

– Jemison (New Atlantis/Alpha Centauri)
– Bondar (Alpha Centauri)
– Gagarin (Alpha Centauri)
– Earth (Sol)
– Mars (Sol)
– Europa (Sol)
– Ganymede (Sol)

Additionally, you can also mine Chlorine by building outposts on any of these planets and searching for the resource to mine, which will generate the resource passively as you play. To do this, pull out your hand scanner and search for a coloured patch on the ground with the resource name. Once found, build an outpost in that area and place an extractor of that type of resource on top.

You can also purchase Chlorine throughout the settled systems if scavenging or mining doesn’t sound like your thing. Jemison Mercantile in New Atlantis has some in exchange for a few credits. It’s easy to stock up on resources this way, as it’s a relatively low cost even for Starfield’s early game.
