As a massive, expansive game, you can rest assured that Starfield has a massive, expansive arsenal of weaponry for you to shoot at the things you discover too. While you will no doubt come across a decent trickle of weapons as you progress, you might find that, for whatever reason, shotguns are a little harder to come across. Fortunately, there are quite a few of them across the galaxy once you know where to look.
You can most reliably find shotguns in Starfield at Trade Authorities, which can typically be found in most of the major cities across the galaxy. At the Trade Authority in Cydonia, for instance, you can buy a Coachman Shotgun that does 57 physical damage for 1650 damage. It’s far from the strongest shotgun in the game, but it is a pretty good starting point, especially if you’re looking to put your Shotgun Certification Combat skill to the test, which allows you to do 10% more damage and can be upgraded even further by you killing enemies with a shotgun.
There are other places where you can find shotguns, of course, but Trade Authorities are probably the most reliable places. There are rarer shotguns available for completing certain missions and some enemies may even drop them upon defeat, but you may as well sell your contraband at a Trade Authority and pick up a new weapon while you’re at it. Don’t forget to visit a Weapons Workbench to maximise the boom you get for your buck.
