The time has finally come to live out your space fantasy and explore uncharted worlds in Bethesda’s latest IP, Starfield. You’ll also want to look cool doing it, and the pre-order bonuses give you a head start with some unique cosmetics.
For those wanting to grab them right away, you will have to be a little patient. Securing them as soon as you boot up the game isn’t possible until later on. But don’t worry; your pre-order bonuses will be waiting patiently for you once you’ve progressed enough.
If you own Starfield on Xbox, make sure you check the add-ons page to see if the pre-order bonus has been installed. To do this, simply search for the game in the Xbox Store, then go to details. Below should be a list of add-ons for the game where the Old Marks Skins should be. For Steam users, this process should be automatic
Starfield Pre-Order Bonus
If you’ve pre-ordered, then you’ll gain access to Mars-themed cosmetics to give your space gear some special Sol customisation. And yes, you can go to Mars in this game. What’s included in the pre-order bonuses:
- Old Mars Skin – Laser Cutter
- Old Mars Skin – Deep Mining Helmet
- Old Mars Skin – Deep Mining Spacesuit
- Old Mars Skin – Tunnel Mining Pack
How to Access Your Starfield Cosmetic Bonuses
With that out of the way, the first thing to note is that to obtain any of these cosmetics, you’ll have to play through the game’s tutorial, which concludes on the moon Kreet. Without spoiling anything, the main quest will send you to a place called The Lodge, and it’s here that you’ll be able to obtain all the extra goodies you’ve pre-ordered.
Once inside, you’ll want to head to the right and follow the path down to the basement. Here you’ll see every kind of workbench that you will need on your adventures throughout the star systems. What we’re looking for is the Weapon Workbench and Spacesuit Workbench, which can be found clinging to the right side as you walk in.

Using the Weapon Workbench will allow you to change the look of your Laser Cutter. Select the weapon in the workbench menu and choose the skins option. The Old Mars Skin for the mining laser should be in the drop-down menu, waiting for you to slap it on.
The last 3 cosmetics can be found in the Spacesuit Workbench for the Deep Mining Spacesuit set. Simply do the same thing as before but on the Deep Mining set, which is the first set of gear you spawn with when starting a new game.
It’s worth noting that you don’t necessarily have to secure your pre-order bonuses from the Lodge specifically, but it’s the first place you’ll go to that has all the workbenches you’ll need to access them. You can access the cosmetics from any workbench you come across, including those you place in your ship and outposts.
Starfield is available on PC and Xbox.
