Say what you will about Bethesda’s RPGs, but one think they always get right is the writing for their companions. Whether it’s the Fallout or Elder Scrolls universe, Bethesda has always excelled at is making you care about your companions, and the same is ture of Starfield, their next biggest RPG. But can your new mates dies in Starfield?
Luckily for you, no matter what you do in general gameplay, your companions cannot permanently die in Starfield, though they may die during narrative moments of the game’s story that we won’t get into details here for obvious reasons. Companions can be knocked down and incapacitated temporarily if they take enough damage, however, so be sure to look out for them all the same. If you’re trying to explode Sarah for whatever reason, just know that she will eventually stand right up again.
Companions are crucial to you properly enjoying Starfield, as not only do they provide you with walking inventory space, but they can also be romanced if you meet certain criteria. Time will tell if any of them end up as belove as Lydia or Nick, but I guess we will find out, one star system at a time.
Elsewhere in Starfield, be sure to read up on fall damage as you’re leaping across a galaxy far, far away.
Starfield is available on PC and Xbox.
