As a game set in space, you’re probably going to spend a big chunk of your time in Starfield doing big jumps in low gravity, because sometimes everyone has to feel like an astronaut. However, it’s sometimes a little difficult to tell how fatal a jump might be, especially as the different gravities seems to affect how things work to the point where you’re maybe wondering if the game has fall damage or not.
Well, Starfield does have fall damage, but it’s certainly a lot more lenient than in earlier Bethesda games.
As mentioned, being on a planet’s surface with low gravity seems to mean that you can fall further and take less damage as you land slower, though we don’t have the exact science for this down. Just know that if you jump high up and take a while to come back down, there’s a good chance you can survive most jumps.
Players can actually decrease the amount of fall damage they take by collecting specific skill magazines. We found one in the Constellation HQ, the Constellation Guide 01, that permanently reduced fall damage by 5%. Players can also spend points in the Physical Gymnastics skill to lower fall damage as well, though this may take a little while to unlock.
Starfield is available on PC and Xbox.
