With Spy x Family: Season 1 – Part 2 ending, fans are eager to find out when Spy x Family: Season 2’s release date is. It’s not common for a comedy, slice-of-life anime to reach mainstream fame, so it’s nice when anime like Spy x Family add some variety.
Season 1 ended with Loid Forger finally encountering Donovan, the series’ main antagonist. It was a short encounter, but the fact that Donovan now knows of Loid’s existence is a huge step forward for Loid’s mission.
Find out when Spy x Family: Season 2 is coming out, as well as some other important details here.
When Is Spy x Family: Season 2 Being Released?
Spy X Family: Season 2 will be released in October 2023 as a part of the Fall anime line-up. The details about the new season are yet to follow, but as far as the release date is concerned, mark your calendars for Fall 2023.
As luck would have, a second season isn’t the only good news. A feature-length film is also in the works over at Studio Wit, and CloverWorks. The film is reportedly scheduled to release on December 22, 2023, that’s around two months after the new season starts airing. The trailer for the movie itself was pretty basic and didn’t preview any new scenes yet, so it’s likely still in the middle of production.
Don’t worry, Season 1 – Part 2 came out only 3 months after the end of Part 1. If that’s any indication, TOHO is hard at work producing it right now.
Who Is In The Cast Of Spy x Family: Season 2?
Along with the new season will come dozens of new missions for the Forgers as well. A bunch of never-before-seen characters will debut in Spy x Family: Season 2, but it’s doubtful they’ll be able to outshine the returning main characters and their splendid voice actors.
The entire Forger family is going to be back in Season 2, so Takuya Eguchi, Atsumi Tanezaki, and Saori Hayami, all three will once again voice Loid, Anya, and Yor respectively. As the series’ main antagonist, Donovan Desmond has also finally entered the foray, expect to see a lot more of him, and his voice actor Takaya Hashi, when the upcoming season finally releases this October.
What Is Spy X Family: Season 2 About? (Spoilers)
As stated earlier, Spy x Family: Season 1 ended with Loid and Donovan’s encounter. This event occurs in Volume 7, Chapter 38 of the manga.
Chapter 39 will continue the Imperial Scholar’s Mixer Arc with the Forger family continually getting into awkward situations as the holiday season approaches. The next arc will also feature them going on a cruise, which was teased in the trailer.
In case you’re wondering how this will all affect the upcoming movie, it’s probably not by much. Spy x Family’s creator, Tatsuya Endo, has announced that the movie will feature an original story. So, the movie won’t be adapting anything from the current manga, and its events shouldn’t coincide with the series much.
Which Studio Is Making Spy X Family: Season 2?
Spy x Family Season 1 Parts 1 & 2 were both produced by TV Tokyo, Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, TOHO animation, and Shueisha. Wit Studio and Cloverworks were in charge of the animation.
TOHO animation is the company that announced the coming of Season 2 and the movies, so it seems that the production team will remain the same.
On the animation side, it has been officially confirmed that Wit Studio and Cloverworks will once again be taking the reins. It’s a safe bet that the visuals of Spy x Family: Season 2 will be outstanding since they did a fantastic job with the first two parts, and there isn’t really a reason why they wouldn’t.
Where To Watch Spy X Family: Season 2
Ever since Spy x Family blew up in popularity, dozens of companies scrambled to get licenses to air the show on their platforms. As a result, Spy x Family is one of the most accessible anime shows out there. To name a few services, Amazon Prime Video, Bilibili, Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix, depending on your region, all have the first season of Spy x Family and will likely also get the rights to the second season.
